CHAPTER 19

DANICA

“Danica?”

Dominic’s soft voice whispers through the air with a hint of warm magic swirling around me like a warm hug. I look up from where I'm sitting on a black yoga mat and smile at him as he pokes his head into the room. I had been pacing downstairs while Remi and Roran watched reruns of Friends on the TV, and walked in front of them one too many times. I couldn't help it, though. Gabe, Kayla, and Zane had left for the Council meeting over an hour ago, and I felt like I was going to throw up.

When Remi suggested I go do some yoga and chill out, I flipped him off, but reluctantly trudged upstairs to change into some yoga pants and a tank top. It’s been weeks since I’ve taken out my yoga mat and practiced any new positions, and even though my purple mat is still at Black Veil, Gabe has a few old black ones downstairs in his home gym.

“Are you busy at the moment, Love? Or do you think I could take you on that date we discussed?” Dom asks, taking a step into the room and making me drool at the sight of him. His black long-sleeved shirt is rolled up to his elbows, showing the spiraling tattoos that cover his pale skin, making me wish he would take off the shirt so I could study them up close.

“A date?” I repeat, running the idea through my mind.

“Yes, if that's agreeable with your evening plans? I can always postpone if you would rather?” he offers, but I can see some of the light drain from his eyes at the mention of not going on our date tonight.

My desire to get up and dressed for a date is almost nonexistent. However, it's been over a week since I left this house besides stepping out in the backyard and I'm starting to feel like the walls are closing in around me. Besides, if I stay here, I'll only make myself sick with worry over Kayla and the guys. The hopeful look Dom is shooting my way makes it easy to make up my mind. I push up from the floor, my muscles warm and loose from all the stretching I had just done before rolling up my mat and putting it away.

“Let me shower and get ready first?” I ask, and the smile that blooms over Dominic's face makes the effort I have to put into getting ready worth it.

“Of course. Take as long as you need,” he says as I walk over and stretch up on my toes so I can kiss his cheek. The small groan that slips past his lips at my touch makes me grin as I walk out of the gym, adding a slight sway to my step when I feel his eyes on me.

I shower quickly and then curse Kayla for not being here when I have a date, as I attempt to put eyeliner on and poke myself in the eye about ten times.
